Giant Inflatable Black Smog Cloud Behind Car is Guerrilla Marketing Campaign for WWF

Smog is gross. As someone who lives in LA, a city that occasionally has it’s smog problems, I can tell you it stinks, makes you tired and when it rains it makes your clothes smell. Yep, smog sucks. But the problem is that just because it’s hazy, some people still don’t see it as a problem and continue to use their poluting machinery.

That’s why the World Wildlife Fund attached this inflated black cloud behind a car to showcase a larger than life guerrilla marketing smog example.

Anti-War Guerrilla Marketing Poster Makes Full Use of the Pole It’s Attached To

What goes around comes around

Here’s a clever guerrilla marketing poster design. The anti-war guerrilla marketing poster is designed so the gun that the soldier is holding wraps all the way around the pole and points back at the soldier, portraying the phrase “what goes around comes around”.

Use Only What You Need Guerrilla Marketing Park Bench

Guerrilla Marketing Bench with Half a Seat Encourages You to Take What You Need

Use Only What You Need

Some people have a bad habit in which they take a lot more than what they need to. That’s what makes this half-of-a bench guerrilla marketing campaign clever. Do you really NEED the whole bench, or are you just being greedy?

…but you know who does have to stand? The poor chap who can’t sit down because some cruel marketer took away half of his park bench. I guess sometimes guerrilla marketing is just mean, like this Sarah Marshall movie guerrilla marketingcampaign.

Funny, but not for everyone icon wink Use Only What You Need Guerrilla Marketing Park Bench

Crying Baby Left In Public Encourages Passerby’s to “Be A Mom”

Want to know what it’s like to be a mom? Try taking care of this abandoned, screaming baby that’s been left in public. The baby carriage left in public was equipped with speakers that played the screams of a crying baby to allow you your turn at holding onto the reigns of a baby carriage and a screaming child.

Ok even I agree that’s not the same, but that was the point that Unicef was trying to get across when they created this abandoned baby guerrilla marketing campaign. But nonetheless the Unicef guerrilla marketing campaign is after a good cause – the world could use a whole lot more moms. I love moms. icon smile Unicef Be A Mom Guerrilla Marketing Campaign

Jelly Belly Jellybean Guerrilla Marketing Donates Thousands Jelly Beans for Music Video

Jelly Belly Jellybean Guerrilla Marketing Donates 288,000 Jelly Beans for Kina Grannis Music Video

Consumer-Packaged Goods brands take note – you can learn a thing or two from America’s favorite Jelly Bean, Jelly Belly, and their latest guerrilla marketing music video efforts. The JellyBelly brand donated 288,000 jelly beans to create an animated music video featuring stop motion for Kina Grannis’ latest song – “In Your Arms”. The video which utilizes 2,460 still frames has already seen 1.5 million views in just a few days.

However don’t be fooled, as many guerrilla marketers and video production coordinators know, this is no easy task. After talking JellyBelly into donating the jellybeans, the video project took 22 months to complete. It also took a team of 30 people a whopping 1,357 hours to complete.

A behind the scenes process can be seen below. What do you think – have you seen a better use of Jelly Beans?

Still not sure the cover letter is dead? (Well, at least dead within the creative industry?) Check out this guerrilla marketing video cover letter for Carrot Creative applicant Torrey Taralli, the future Community Manager at Carrot Creative. Torrey created a stop motion video using over 300 carrots to try to land an interview with the social media marketing agency.

What do you think, would you hire Torrey? Who knows, do you think if I threw my contact information out there and offered up this blog I could get an interview too? icon biggrin Guerrilla Marketing Video Cover Letter

Condom Guerrilla Marketing Ad Wishes Dads Happy Father’s Day

Durex Condom’s has created a pretty clever guerrilla marketing print ad that “cockily” wishes their competitor’s (and more/less dad’s everywhere) a ‘Happy Father’s Day’.

The example is meant to confirm the brand’s strength and dependability and is also a creative way to target the male population, many who already have kids and are not planning on having anymore, regardless of their condom choices before.

Giant Dumocalcin Bones Are Pro Calcium in this Larger than Life Outdoor Guerrilla Marketing Campaign

Dumocalcin calcium tablets produced by Actavis Indonesia used giant bones as the support pillars of highways to promote their brand.

Unfortunately as this post shows, the giant bone replacing pillar concept is not new and has been done before. Sandoz Calcium created the same campaign to support their calcium tablets first, and I’m sure they were a little upset their competitor took the exact same campaign down-to-the-bone even.

I wonder who it worked best for? Guerrilla marketing is great but I guess it’s still best to remember it’s marketing – “guerrilla warfare” marketing at that – and marketing is all about results. It’s best to remember we are in a propaganda war here.

Still pretty lame though … and definitely not creative.
